The 35-year-old woman, who poured boiling water on the genitals of her 11-year-old son for spending her GHC1 on food, has been convicted by the Takoradi Circuit Court for causing harm. Emmanuel Affenyi was said to have explained to her mother, Maame Yaa, that he took the money to buy food because he was hungry when he returned from school. Prosecutors say Affenyi, who is a pupil of the Funko Catholic Primary School is responding to treatment at the Kwesimintsim Hospital The convict was arrested after a complaint was made to the Police and was on Wednesday, May 9 arraigned on a charge of causing harm to which she pleaded guilty. When the case was called, Maame Yaa who is nursing a baby appeared remorseful. She did not attempt any explanation for her action but pleaded for leniency after she pleaded guilty to the offence.
