
The police have assured the public that efforts have been intensified to arrest the attackers of a bullion van on Tuesday, February 22 in order to bring them to justice.
The attack at the Industrial Area in Accra was foiled by a police officer, who was on duty nearby.
He saved the situation by firing at the robbers while the armoured bullion van also saved the officer on-board, foiling the crime.
While fleeing the scene, the robbers reportedly fired indiscriminately into crowd, injuring three persons.
The three were rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
“The Inspector-General of Police has spoken to the medical team at the hospital and the victims and assured them of the needed support,” a statement from the police said.
While commending the police officer whose intervention foiled the incident, the law-enforcement agency has assured the public of arresting the perpetrators.
“We wish to assure the public that police has intensified efforts to get the perpetrators arrested to face justice.
“We will surely get them,” it stressed.
It has also reiterated its call for all financial institutions in the country to resort to the use of fit-for-purpose vehicles for their cash-in transit activities.
