The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Alhassan Tampuli is convinced Dagbon will open a new chapter of development after the funeral performances of the two late eminent chiefs of Dagbon.
Speaking exclusively to 3news.com at the climax of the funeral rite of Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV in Yendi, the NPA boss said the resources to be used in maintaining law and order in Yendi could now be channelled into developing the municipality and the region at large.
“There is no denying the fact that the security officials that are posted here are a drain on the National economy,” he said, noting that the amount of money spent on them could have been sent to the Yendi Municipal Assembly or the Northern Regional Coordinating Council for developmental activities; to build schools, to build hospitals, to construct roads and dams.
“All these resources are being channelled into maintaining law and order,” he observed.
He thanked the committee of eminent chiefs led by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Abudu and Andani Royal gates and the security agencies for their co-operation which has led to the funerals of the two late chiefs.
Mr. Tampuli called on all Dagombas to support them in bringing closure to the conflict and bring a lasting peace and tranquility to Dagbon for development.
“I think that all sons and daughters of Dagbon have to pull their weight behind this exercise so that we see the closure to the conflict. We open the doors of reconciliation, we say yes to peace and tranquility as those are the bases for which we can have development.”
