[Video] Saddick Adams, Godfred Akoto Boafo don’t support calls for Akonnor to be sacked

Head coach Charles Akonnor has come under intense pressure in the last 24 hours after Black Stars were beaten 1-0 by South Africa.

It was an abysmal performance that resulted in the defeat that has left Ghana in danger of failing to qualify for the World Cup for a second successive edition.

Prior to the defeat in Johannesburg, Akonnor’s performed below par but were fortunate to beat Ethiopia 1-0 in Cape Coast.

Akonnor, appointed 20 months ago, has now been in charge of 10 games and his win rate is 40% with the team yet to develop an identifiable style of play, leaving Ghanaians frustrated.

After the South Africa match, ‘Sack CK’ was among the top trends on Twitter Ghana with over 2000 tweets urging the government and Ghana Football Association (GFA) to show Akonnor the exit.

However, in a 15 minutes conversation on TV3 Midday News Tuesday, sports journalists Saddick Adams, Godfred Akoto Boafo and Thierry Nyann did not back those calls.

Watch how they analysed the current situation below:
