President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, to provide free hot meals to final year Junior High School (JHS) students who will be sitting for their exams.
The students are expected to start their exam from August 24 and end September 18.
Akufo-Addo, in his 15th address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of Covid-19 said it has come to his attention that the students are having a difficult time complying with the Covid-19 safety protocols. He said he is informed that some go hungry in their bid to comply with the protocols.
Accordingly, the president has directed that they be provided with meals to help their situation while they write their exam.
“I have asked the ministry of gender children and women affairs to start preparations to ensure that as off 24th September to 18th September all 584,000 students and 146000 staff both in public and private schools be given one hot meal a day”, he said.
