TV3's Wendy Laryea gets award for empowering young women

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) has awarded TV3’s broadcast journalist, Wendy Laryea, for her mentorship role of empowering girls and women.

She played a key role in PPAG’s Sista’s Mentorship Programme, which ultimately helped in reducing teenage pregnancy and early marriage among women in and out of school.

This is the sixth award won by Wendy in two years but has bagged an incredible four awards in 2016.
She picked up the Best Reporter on Education, Best Reporter News (Radio and Television at the GJA Awards in 2015) and later went on to receive awards for Ghana’s Top 30 Under-30 Young Pioneers Future of Ghana Publication, Ghana Education Community Award, Citation for Young Achiever from LA Bethel Presbyterian Church Young People’s Guild and her recent award for empowering young women in Ghana.
The PPAG’s Sista’s Mentorship Programme was designed to educate adolescent girls between the ages of 10 and 19 years on the reduction of child marriage and teenage pregnancy rate in the country.
Other guests for the programme included ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, Becca and Portia Gabor of TV3’s News 360 fame.
