Versatile broadcaster and experienced events host, Johnnie Hughes, has been chosen to compère this year’s National Tourism Awards scheduled for March 22 at the Event Haven, Trade Fair Center, in Accra.
Mr Hughes, who co-hosts TV3’s flagship morning magazine show New Day and other programmes on the various Media General platforms, welcomed the announcement of his selection to host the big tourism event.
“My deep knowledge, appreciation and advocacy for tourism is an open secret. In addition, my many years of delighting diverse live audiences with masterful performances, smooth presentations and impressive dress sense will come to play once more at this grand occasion,” he said.
The highbrow ceremony is expected to have over five hundred guests, including key government functionaries, personalities from the diplomatic corps and players within the tourism industry, among others.
The scheme has been a flagship programme of the Ghana Tourism Authority since 1997. It aims at rewarding excellence, raising standards, encouraging healthy competition and making Ghana the preferred tourism destination.
This year’s edition will see twenty nine deserving tourism establishments and individuals pick up awards.
