
The Awoemefia of Anlo State and President of the Anlo traditional council, Togbi Sri III, has congratulated the new overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abubakari Mahama.
The Chief of Savelugu, Yoo Naa Abubakar was selected last Friday by the custodians of the Dagbon tradition, led by the Gushei Naa and Kugnaa, to succeed the late Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II who was killed in 2002.
Ahead of his investiture at the Gbewaa palace in Yendi on Friday, January 25, many including the president, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former presidents and the chairman of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II have congratulated him on his enskinment.
In a congratulatory message, Wednesday the Anlo king noted the Dagbon Kingdom, the Asante Kingdom and the Anlo Kingdom were the three kingdoms the British met on their arrival to the Gold Coast and thus, he is looking forward to a collaboration among the kingdoms now Dagbon has been restored to peace.
Meanwhile, Togbi Sri III has commended the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Abudu and Andani royal families, the chiefs and people of Dagbon and various governments for the roles in ending the protracted chieftaincy conflict.
He expressed the hope that the enskinment of Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama as the overlord of Dagbon will “bring peace, development and prosperity to Dagbon Kingdom and compensate them for the years lost after the demise of the last Yaa Naa”.
