To Agree or Disagree: Mahama to speak on Supreme Court judgement

2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to address journalists as well as supporters of his party at 5:00pm on Thursday over the decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss his petition.

The Court on Thursday unanimously dismissed the petition filed on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 to challenge the declaration by the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), Jean Adukwei Mensa.

“The petitioner has not produced any evidence to rebut the presumptions created by the publication of CI 135,” Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah said at the end of a two-hour-long reading of the judgement.

“We have therefore no reason to order a rerun. We accordingly dismiss the petition.”

Reacting to the judgement, a member of the legal team of Mr Mahama, Abraham Amaliba, said the “flagbearer” of the NDC will address journalists at 5:00pm from his office at Cantonments in Accra.

He, therefore, asked journalists to be present without fail to know the exact reaction of Mr Mahama, who was in court on Thursday.
