The Western Regional Police Command is preparing to process seamstress Rose Mawusi Fiaku and her mason partner Lawson Lartey for court after they abducted a one-year-old baby from his mother at the Takoradi Market Circle. The abduction that took place on Friday, March 23 resulted in an uproar in Sekondi-Takoradi with many keen on finding the culprits and reuniting the baby and his parents. Rose Mawusi Fiaku, 42, had stolen the child under the pretext of buying sausage for him. The Western Regional Police CID upon a tip-off arrested Rose, who led them on a wild goose chase to recover the baby even though she had admitted having the baby. For more than an hour, they were moving from one area to another looking for the baby, until the police following another tip-off, took her to her residence at Effie Kuma Number One, where the baby was found.DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku said the police are yet to establish the motive for the abduction. “We are now going to take their statements and start investigations into the issue,” she said. Sekondi-Takoradi is gaining notoriety for abductions and kidnappings, putting the police on high alert to quickly deal with such issues. Three girls who were kidnapped last year are yet to be found.
