Contestants of TV3’s Talented Kidz reality show left no doubt in the minds of their audience and viewers last Sunday about how talented they are when they showcased what they are made of. The rule for the Sunday night show was simple: “Pick and Perform” from a selection of acts for the day. Although the contestants had no idea what their performances where and had only 24 hours to practice before their performances, they brought their A- game to bear as they mounted the stage to perform. To the surprise of both the audience and judges, contestants put up amazing performances despite the fact that they rehearsed for just 24-hours to the show. Sunday’s show was a departure from the previous weeks where they had the opportunity to rehearse throughout the week. Bassist, Peniel Dodoo who picked classical jazz, delighted the audience with a spectacular performance on his base guitar. The Luther King Band nailed the Afro Juju music they picked with Fela Kuti’s “Water no get enemy”. The Okodie Band from the Ashanti Region stirred up the audience with their Ga traditional performance by literally stepping into the shoes of Wulomei. Rapper, Samuel Owusu could not have failed his fans this day as his rap lines comfortably accompanied classical jazz. Revelation Dancers took their dancing to a different level as they did a contemporary dance, whilst Ashley Chuks, who took to Hip-pop, thrilled fans with Rihanna’s Diamond. The dancing group, Nana 1 performed a lyrical dance which left the judges spellbound. The Rap Controller, Hakeem Issah, was on point with his rap flow and did not allow anything to prevent him from delivering as usual. Aristo Jokers took the audience back to the good old days with Cantata, and Nelissa, the hair stylist had no choice but to do the opposite of what she knows how to do best. She succeeded in giving her client a wonderful haircut which she called Galax Party Haircut. The judges on the night were unanimous in their praises for the great performances on display as they remarked that Ghana truly has talents. Guest judge, Amanzeba Nat Brew, who was dumbfounded by Samuel Owusu’s performance, joined the two judges to give a standing ovation after the 11-year-old rapper delivered a fantastic performance. He indicated his readiness to work with Samuel saying, “You are the man, I can see an opportunity for collaboration.” As painful as it is, Revelation Dancers and Ashley Chuks were evicted on the night as the competition heats up and contestants gear up for the grand finale. Who walks away with the grand prize? Don’t miss a moment of Talented Kids. Talented kidz is a product of Ghana’s leading TV channel TV3, and air every Sunday at 4pm exclusively on TV3.
