The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has set Tuesday, July 7 as date on which to hold a by-election for the Talensi Constituency after the resignation of the Member of Parliament.

Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) resigned his role after being enskinned the paramount chief of Tongo to replace the late Tongo-Raana Sapaalug-Namalteng Boara Yenga Kolbil.

He communicated his decision to Parliament last Tuesday with a “befitting” send-off expected to be held in his honour.

In a statement issued on Friday, the EC said it will receive nominations for the by-election on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24 at its district office in Tongo from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

“Nomination forms may be obtained from the district office of the Commission or at the Regional Office in Bolgatanga,” the statement signed by Deputy Commissioner Dr Amadu Sulley said.

“Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) showing the full face and both ears with red background, on the submission of their nomination forms.”

Filing fee for the election is GH¢1,000.
