Kotoko striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu has signed for Swedish side Trelleborgs FF on a season-long loan with an option to stay on permanently.
Safiu joined from Eleven Wonders Football Club in Techiman last year and became a huge figure in the Porcupine Warriors.
He grew in the side to become the top scorer of the Special Competition – scoring 10 goals.
He also scored thrice and assisted twice in last year’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign, where the Reds reached the money zone.
On Trelleborgs FF’s website, they stated: “We continue to strengthen on the attack side. Now through 25-year-old forward Fatawu Safiu from Ghana.”
“The contract is valid for the 2019 season with an option for an additional two years.”
Safiu’s rise to prominence has been immense and he is hoping to impress coach Kwesi Appiah for a regular look-in with the Black Stars.
