The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has asked the two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to desist from announcing the winner of the presidential elections.
Officials of the two parties have thrown in election figures and indicated that their preferred candidates are winning the presidential elections in particular.
But the Christian Council of Ghana noted in a statement on Wednesday, December 9 that such action has the propensity of causing mayhem in the country.
To that end, the Council said all Ghanaians should wait for the Electoral Commission, the body mandated by law to announce the results, to do so.
“We kindly appeal to the leadership of the two main political parties to desist from announcing the winner of the Presidential Elections as it has the propensity to cause mayhem in the event that the EC’s official declaration goes contrary to that announced by the political party,” the statement said.
