November 12, 2018

The Business Desk of Media General has put together a maiden fair aimed at giving start-up businesses the needed exposure and funding opportunities to grow.

The event slated for Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17 at the Aviation Social Centre, is expected to bring together about  50 start-ups to network and get  the right information on access to business financing.

The two-day event will also have a summit for the enterprises.

The World Bank has predicted that growth in sub-Saharan Africa will pick up at 3.2 per cent this year, pointing to Ghana as a country that is safe and stable with a relatively low crime level.

Ghana has witnessed a growth in start-ups over the last decade, some having thrived while others have folded up along the way with others, still, struggling.

One of the major challenges start-ups face is access to market and cost of advertising to reach the consumer market.

After having hosted over 200 start-up firms on the MOVER segment on TV3’s BUSINESS FOCUS, Media General not only won awards for its dedication and commitment to growing start-ups but also came to appreciate the challenges they face.

About 50 start-ups are expected to patronize the fair, which is open to the general public.

It will have participants exhibit their products and services to patrons with a talk scheduled for all.

There will also be a free health screening programme for all.
