Staff of Flagstaff House in accident, 5 critically injured

Five people said to be workers at the Flagstaff House are in critical condition after an official bus carrying them was involved in an accident Thursday morning at the Arko Adjei interchange in Accra.

The five and 10 others who sustained minor injuries, were among 20 others in the official staff bus, have been rushed to the Police Hospital. They are yet to be identified.

The accident, involving a Mercedes Benz bus and an articulated Truck, occurred few minutes to 8:00AM. The bus with registration UW 316- X was negotiating the round-about of the middle section of the interchange when the truck with registration number AS 3712- R ran into it.

The truck, which was coming from the Accra Central direction, was said to have failed brake and run into the bus causing it to fall on its side. The metal railings saved the bus from falling off to the ground.

For about 45 minutes, the accident caused vehicular traffic on that stretch of the interchange
