UCL Quarter-Final: Barca get Roma, Madrid to play Juve again

The quarter-final draw of the UEFA Champions League has been held. It was held Friday morning at the Uefa headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Defending champions Real Madrid would have to negotiate past Italian giants Juventus if they are to clinch a historic three-peat in the world’s topmost club competition. The Old Ladies will host the first leg on Tuesday, April 3 before travelling to the Spanish capital for the second leg exactly a week later. It will be the 20th and 21st meeting of the two sides in Europe, counting as one of the consistent fixtures – second only to Madrid-Bayern fixtures.

Madrid’s Spanish rivals Barcelona – after a convincing 4-1 aggregate victory over English champions Chelsea – will play AS Roma for a place in the semi-finals. The Giallorossi will travel to Camp Nou for the first leg before hosting Ernesto Valverde’s side at the Stade Olimpico in Rome. The English Premier League is guaranteed a side in the semi-final after Liverpool and Manchester City were drawn to play each other for a semi-final ticket. Anfield hosts the first leg while the Etihad hosts the second. The third Spanish force in this year’s campaign, Sevilla, who ousted Manchester United for a ticket to this stage, will play German champions Bayern Munich.
