Kurt Okraku has expressed his appreciation to the football community for their support and trust despite the challenges faced during his first term in office after being re-elected to lead the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Okraku, who stood unopposed following the disqualification of his sole contender George Afriyie, secured a resounding victory at the GFA Elective Congress on Thursday in Tamale. He received 97.1% of the votes, with 117 out of 120 total votes cast.

In his address, Okraku thanked the delegates and the broader football community for their confidence in his leadership for a second term, saying, “With a gracious heart, I want to thank you for travelling far and near to be part of this process. We had 120 delegates attending this morning’s function. Ayekoo.”

“In 2019 our football family gave us the opportunity to serve after our dear country’s football went through very difficult and challenging times.”

“After Normalization, the entire World was confronted with COVID-19 and again our football was badly affected but it took a strong effort from this football family to save our game.”

“During the last Congress in Kumasi, I did say that our football went through good times and some bad times. But throughout this period we stayed together, in these good times we chalked some success on and off the pitch. In these same bad times, we lost some battles on the field but we believed in the vision.”

“This is the time to work together no matter our differences just for the sake of Ghana football,” he added.
