Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah picked himself as he revealed his top five Black Stars players.

However, there was no place in the list for legendary striker Asamoah Gyan.

The former Juventus midfielder included three-time Africa best player Abedi Pele, striker Tony Yeboah, midfielder Michael Essien and then goalkeeper Richard Kingson.

Appiah tweeted his list on Monday.

Gyan’s omission has raised some eyebrows on social media, considering his Black Stars achievements.

The 34-year-old is the country’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals and holds the record for the most appearances, 109.

Gyan and Appiah played together for the Black Stars for seven years, representing Ghana at two World Cups.

Appiah, who captained Ghana to its first-ever World Cup in 2006,  made 67 appearances for the national team, scoring 14 goals.
