Minister for Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif says there is nothing to substantiate claims of interference in player selection for Ghana’s national teams.
Following the selection of some players in recent times, particularly for the Black Stars, there has been an uproar from fans who have aired their dissatisfaction with many claiming some players called into the teams were choices of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and not the technical team.
While the Sports Minister acknowledges the allegations, he says there hasn’t been any evidence to prove they were true.

He added that, even if there were any truth in those claims, it was difficult to know because none of the coaches have ever complained which makes it difficult for his outfit to take action.
“I’ve advised coaches including CK Akonnor who was the first I worked with as Sports Minister to always work independently because they are paid by the state so if they kowtow to the directions of the FA in selecting players it is them that will be blamed and not the FA,” he told Asempa FM.
“None of the coaches I have met in my time as Minister has told me anything about player selection interference from the Ghana FA.

“If there is no evidence then it makes things difficult but yes these are things that we hear about. When we hear such things we try to approach the FA. We conduct our own investigations but there is still no evidence to prove and no national team coach has complained.” he added.
