RTU begins Thank You tour

Management and players of newly promoted Ghana Premier League team Real Tamale United (RTU) has begun a Thank You tour of some paramountcies in the Northern, Savannah and North East regions.

Their visit is to thank the chiefs for their support and prayers that saw them qualify back into the GPL.

Their first port of call was at the Gbewaa Palace, where they paid a courtesy call on the King of Dagbon, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II.

The delegation also visited the palace of the regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana, and Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamadu.

The Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, who led the delegation to the Gbewaa palace, applauded management and players for qualifying back into the Ghana Premier League after some eight years of absence.

He promised his unflinching support for the team just as his father, late former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, did.

“I want to assure you that the entire constituency is behind you and don’t hesitate to call on me anytime you need support.”

He added: “I am willing to buy shares should the club float shares on the stock market.”

He later presented a sum of GH¢5,000 to the delegation.

For his part, the King of Dagbon, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II, said he was full of excitement after receiving the news of their qualification.

He called on sons and daughters of Dagbon and the North, at large, to rally their support behind the team to keep them in the competition.

The team is expected to visit the Yoo palace in Savelugu, the Na-yiri’s palace in Nalerigu before ending their tour at the Jakpa palace in Damongo.

RTU finished on top of Zone One in Division I with 65 points ahead of Tano Bofoakwa after beating Unity FC by two goals to zero in the last game at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
