Former U-17 World Cup silver boot winner Ransford Osei has revealed that he missed an opportunity to play for Real Madrid in his youthful days due to his suitors’ unwillingness to engage in a bidding war with others.
The forward who was instrumental in Ghana’s glorious moments in U-17 and U-20 competitions was on the radar of many clubs having won the Golden Boot at the end of the African Under-17 Championship and the Silver Boot at the U-17 World Cup both in 2007 in which Ghana finished as champions and second runners-up respectively.
The former Kotoko attacker was also a member of the Black Satellites team that won the Africa Youth Championship as well as becoming the first African side to win the U-20 World Cup in 2009.
Despite attracting interest from several elite clubs in Europe he was unable to secure the big moves.
He explained that when he was close to striking a big deal, particularly with Real Marid and Manchester City, the requisite conditions were not achievable.

“After the U-17 World Cup, I was wanted by all the big clubs. I remember an offer from Real Madrid came,” he told King Jersey TV.
“Myself and Daniel Opare, but then Kessben said the offer from Real Madrid was not enough because another club was offering them one million dollars, but Opare sealed a move.
“I had another opportunity to move to Manchester City, where I stayed for three months, where they arranged for my work permit, but there was this rule that you must have played 75% with the Black Stars, so it was difficult for me to secure one, and I had to leave for Israel,” Osei added.
Despite rubbing shoulders with big names at the youth competitions, Ransford Osei only switched clubs in the Netherlands, Israel and South Africa among others while struggling to play in the senior national team.
