Police arrest one suspect over attack on Maxwell Konadu

The Ghana Police Service have confirmed the arrest of one Seidu Musah believed to be involved in the physical assault of Nsoatreman coach Maxwell Konadu on Sunday in their match against Bofoakwa Tano.

In a matchday 11 clash in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League at the Sunyani Coronation Park which ended in a scoreless draw, Konadu was reportedly beaten leaving him in the Sunyani Teaching Hospital where he has been receiving treatment.

In a bid to fish out the culprits, the police announced their intention to manhunt the suspect earlier on Monday and have successfully landed one as reported this afternoon.

“The Police have arrested suspect Seidu Musah alias Gaswan in connection with the attack on the coach of Nsoatreman FC, Mr. Maxwell Konadu,” a statement on their social media handle said.

They are expected to continue tracing until all suspects involved are arrested.

“Suspect Seidu Musah is currently in Police custody assisting the investigation while efforts are still ongoing to get the other suspect arrested to face justice, and we will surely get him,” the statement added.

While Bofoakwa Tano have released a statement to condemn the act by a section of the spectators, the chairman of the team Yaw Boateng Gyan has openly apologised to Nsoatreman and to coach Maxwell Konadu.

Meanwhile, Bofoakwa Tano have been slapped with a ban on their home venue the Sunyani Coronation Park by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in response to the incident.
