Paul Dogbe, the father and former trainer of Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogbe, has made an unexpected revelation, revealing that he had to borrow money to fund his son’s boxing matches. As a result, he is currently facing legal action from sponsors who have yet to be reimbursed.
This revelation comes after the former world champion parted ways with his father as his manager two years ago, clarifying that their separation was amicable. However, Paul’s recent interview suggests that there may be some underlying tension between them.
“I borrowed monies to fund bouts of Isaac Dogboe when I was still his trainer. It took almost more than 11 years of investments and hard work to put Isaac on the World map.
“I was recently humiliated at the airport about a pending lawsuit over debts unpaid, debts used to fund Isaac’s bouts. We had numerous sponsorship from like Uncle Mitch and others who invested and paid for bouts for Isaac to fight. I do not want anything from my son, all I ask he pays his debts,” Paul, who played an important role in Isaac winning his first world title, said in an interview with Happy FM.

Isaac achieved notable victories against opponents such as John Neil Tabanao, Julian Aristule, Javier Chacon, and Caesar Juarez on his journey to becoming a world champion.
However, the 26-year-old boxer’s attempt to claim a two-division world championship fell short when he lost the WBO Featherweight world title fight to Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez in April.
