Disqualified Wilfred Osei Palmer was once a Chairman of the Black Stars Management CommittteeTema Youth bank roller Wilfred Osei Palmer has been disqualified from contesting the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). He is among three persons disqualified from the entire elections, expected to establish a new body to run football in Ghana. While Alhaji Fuseini Mahama missed out on the Western Regional FA Chairmanship elections, Roy Arthur was also disqualified from the Central Regional FA Chairmanship race. As a result of Mr Palmer’s disqualification, six candidates are left to battle in the elections for the top-most role on Friday, October 25. All disqualified candidates, however, can appeal the decision by the Normalisation Committee, which serves as the electoral body for the various elections. A decision on the appeals is scheduled to be made known on Tuesday, October 8 after which all the qualified candidates will be finalised and published two days later. A release by the Committee failed to outline the reasons for the disqualifications but most believe Mr Palmer’s has to do with comments he is said to have made regarding unclassified payments by the Black Stars, whose management committee he once chaired. For the presidency, Amanda Clinton, George Ankoma Mensah, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie and Fred Pappoe have sailed through. The likes of Tony Aubynn, Fred Acheampong, Albert Commey and George Amoakoh have qualified for the Executive Council membership elections scheduled for Thursday, October 24. The elected will represent Premier League clubs. The likes of Randy Abbey, Samuel Anim Addo and Kweku Eyiah have qualified for the Executive Council elections for Division One clubs. Rosalind Amoh, Edna Quagraine, Evelyn Asare and Habiba Atta Forson will vie for the single slot for women’s representative on the Council.
