Over the weekend of November 11th and 12th, RunThrough, the UK’s largest and Europe’s fastest-growing running events company, hosted the third edition of Run Alton Towers.

The event welcomed 15,000 participants, including Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah, who took part in the races and ran in the junior race with his family.

Run Alton Towers featured a variety of races, including 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and junior races, held within and around the popular Alton Towers theme park. What makes this event unique is that participants, along with their family and friends, had the exclusive opportunity to enjoy all the rides and activities within the theme park after completing their races, making it a memorable and thrilling experience.

The event saw record-breaking attendance, with 15,000 people participating across the weekend. Notably, Sir Mo Farah, a national and global inspiration, joined the runners, embodying RunThrough’s mission to inspire an active nation through running. Farah participated in the junior race alongside a group of children he had brought together.

Matt Wood, Co-Founder of RunThrough, expressed delight in the event’s success and Sir Mo Farah’s participation. He highlighted the joy of having so many people engage in running, creating memories, and supporting charitable causes. The event raised an impressive £150,000 for various charitable causes, with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity being the official Charity of the Year.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity relies on fundraising efforts to support its crucial work, providing advanced treatments and research for children.

Matt Wood commented, “To have Sir Mo Farah join us on Saturday, taking part in the junior race with his family is such an honour. Sir Mo inspired the nation, and that is exactly what we want to do, inspiring a nation through running!”

RunThrough confirmed that Run Alton Towers will return on November 16th and 17th, 2024, featuring the 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and junior races. Entries are now open for those eager to participate in this thrilling event.
