Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac has revealed Richard ‘Olele’ Kingson scouted new goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott, and has praised the goalkeeper’s trainer for doing a great job.

Rajevac invited Wollacott for the games against Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers early this month.

However, despite his inexperience, Wollacott started in both games and helped Ghana secure six points to revive their hopes of qualifying for Qatar.

Wollacott’s performance silenced critics who had questioned his inclusion in the team, simply because he plays for Swindon Town, a club in the fourth-tier league in England.

“It was the work of Richard Kingson because he did the scouting work and he suggested this goalkeeper to me and I watched many videos of him and the decision was made to include him in the squad and when he came, he proved himself and got the chance which he used very well,” Coach Rajevac told the media team of the Ghana FA in an interview on Monday, October 18.

Wollacott, born in England, is expected to be included in the squad that will face Ethiopia and South Africa in the final games of the group stage in November.

Black Stars must win both games to qualify for the play-offs scheduled for March next year.
