Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Nana Yaw Amponsah has shed light on the unexpected departure of Prosper Narteh Ogum.

The former WAFA coach left Kotoko shortly after leading them to their first league title in eight years. According to Amponsah, Ogum’s angry reaction during a meeting played a key role in the coach’s exit.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio, Amponsah stated, “We had a meeting to discuss what we have to do ahead of the new season. He presented us with his list of players that he will need and he asked us to get the players within two weeks which was not possible.

“We had a meeting and I was explaining to him that it is not possible and he got angry and said that is how it is done everywhere and that I can check using Google and it was from I realized that he has to go because at the meeting he was angry and I was also angry,” he added.

Ogum’s departure has had an impact on Kotoko, as they failed to defend their league title.

However, they have a chance to finish in the top four if they secure a home victory against Dreams FC this weekend.
