Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu is on the road to recovery, as he has started training after a six-month absence due to injury.

He sustained the injury in March, which caused him to miss several matches for both his club and the national team. Despite the setback, he secured a move to the French Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, but he has been unable to make his debut due to the groin surgery he underwent during his initial weeks at the club.

Salisu’s return to training is a positive development for both AS Monaco and the Black Stars. Their recent international friendlies exposed defensive vulnerabilities, leading to the concession of six goals, with two against Mexico and four against the USA.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resuming in November. Subsequently, they will commence preparations in December for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast.

There is optimism that Salisu will make a full recovery and be available to represent his nation in this tournament.

Meanwhile, Salisu will be in the stands this weekend to support Monaco as they host Metz in Ligue 1, where predicting the correct score can be challenging.
