Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien made a triumphant return to the pitch, gracing an enthralling exhibition match featuring ex-Chelsea players against their counterparts from Bayern Munich

The former Chelsea midfield maestro served fans with a remarkable performance despite his age and weight leaving the crowd in awe throughout the entertaining match.

The Chelsea Legends found themselves in the lead, thanks to Essien’s clinical finish that followed a pinpoint cross from Ramires. Essien’s goal was a masterclass in timing and precision, and it sent waves of nostalgia through the crowd.

Essien received a pass while approaching the final third before locating Ramires on the right flank. He followed with a darting run into the box, where he met Ramires’ cross sending the ball past the Bayern Legends’ goalkeeper.

The Chelsea Legends didn’t stop there as they went on to secure a resounding 4-0 victory, with Michael Essien once again at the heart of the action. He executed a magnificent lobbed pass, setting up a teammate for an easy finish for the fourth goal after John Terry and Franco Zola had scored.

Essien who spent several years at Chelsea winning a number of trophies including the UEFA Champions, Premier League and FA Cup has been steadily building his coaching career after hanging his boots a few years ago.

He recently acquired his coaching badges and currently contributes his wealth of knowledge to the technical team at FC Nordsjaelland.
