Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has returned to former club Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

The 23-year-old England international made a £73 million move to Old Trafford from the German club in July 2021.

Having not featured for United since August 26 due to a rift with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho has been training separately from the first team since September. The loan agreement does not include an option to buy.

Upon his return to Dortmund, Sancho expressed his excitement, stating, “When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home.’ I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.”

Sancho, who has already completed a medical in Germany, is set to join the club’s mid-season training camp in Marbella. Dortmund will pay 3.5 million euros (£3 million), with an additional 4 million euros (£3.4 million) possible in add-ons based on appearances, Champions League progress, and qualification.

The terms of the deal cover the majority of Sancho’s wages, and if all bonuses are fulfilled, it would exceed 100% of his salary until the end of the season.
