Asante Kotoko were denied all three points in the dying embers of a crunch regional derby against Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The Porcupines who came from behind to lead 2-1 were stunned in injury time thanks to a contentious penalty which triggered violent actions among the fans at the stadium.

After a goalless first half, Amidou Diarra opened the scoring five minutes into the second half to give the home team the lead.

However, Kotoko’s perseverance paid off as Mukwala struck home a rebound after great saves from Rabin Ousmane.

The Porcupine Warriors finally took the lead after Michael Kyei Dwamena finished off a decent attack with Richmond Lamtey finding the former WAFA man in the box.

Just as it seemed Prosper Narteh Ogum’s men had secured the maximum points, the hosts were awarded a penalty which didn’t sit well with fans who reacted by throwing items on the pitch, thereby delaying the kick.

After interventions from the officials, the match resumed and Amidou Diarra converted nicely to level the score to ensure Nations FC secured a crucial point with a 2-2 draw.

In other match centres, Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park secured an impressive come-from-behind 3-1 victory to end Great Olympics’ unbeaten run in the ongoing season.

Augustine Okrah and Cephas Mantey scored to give coach Bismark Kobi Mensah and Bechem United a huge relief with a 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea.

Dreams FC redeemed themselves against defending Champions Medeama by winning 2-1 at home leaving the Tarkwa-based side in the bottom of the table with two outstanding matches.

Karela also held Bofoakwa Tano to a scoreless draw while Nsoatreman beat Legon Cities 2-0.
