Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe faced a setback in his quest for a title shot, suffering a unanimous decision loss to unbeaten featherweight Nick Ball in their WBC featherweight title eliminator.

The fight, which took place at AO Arena in Manchester, England, saw Ball’s relentless and aggressive approach dominate Dogboe throughout the twelve-round contest.

Despite Dogboe’s moments, including a ninth-round counter left hook that momentarily rocked Ball, the Ghanaian boxer struggled to consistently succeed against his younger opponent. Ball’s strategy of outworking Dogboe and maintaining an aggressive pace paid off, earning him a clear victory on the judges’ scorecards.

Dogboe’s attempts to rally in the 12th and final round fell short, and the judges Mark Lyson (119-108), Kevin Parker (118-109) and Kieran McCann (116-111) scored the fight unanimously in favour of Ball.

The defeat marked Dogboe’s second consecutive loss, following his previous defeat to Robeisy Ramirez in an April WBO featherweight title fight.

With this setback, Dogboe’s hopes for a title shot are challenged, and he will need to regroup and strategise for future opportunities in the highly competitive featherweight division. Meanwhile, Nick Ball’s impressive win propels him further into title contention, solidifying his position as a rising star in the featherweight ranks.
