Young Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Osman’s dream move to the Premier League has hit a roadblock after the deal between Nordsjaelland and West Ham collapsed due to a disagreement over agent fees.
The deal, worth approximately 18 million euros, was initially agreed upon by the two clubs, but issues arose when Osman’s agent, Mitch Bakkovens, demanded an unusually high commission fee for himself.
However, it has since come to light that Bakkovens is not Osman’s legally recognised agent. instead, Osman has a valid representation agreement with English agent Darryl Powell. The matter is now being disputed at the Danish Football Association (DBU), with both Powell and Bakkovens claiming to represent Osman’s interests.
In a statement to BT, the DBU confirmed that they are aware of the situation and are in contact with all parties involved. They emphasised that it would be against football agent rules for Bakkovens to represent Osman, as he has already entered into a valid representation agreement with Powell.
Osman, who has impressed this season with five-goal contributions, was set to join fellow Ghanaian player Mohammed Kudus at West Ham, who has also made a strong impact in the Premier League since joining from Ajax. Both players came through the Right to Dream Academy.
The deal’s collapse is a disappointment for Osman, who was looking to move to the Premier League and continue his development at West Ham. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and whether a resolution can be reached that allows Osman to make the move to England.
