Ghana coach Chris Hughton believes they will face a formidable team in their upcoming international friendly against the USA.

Both teams are coming off recent losses, with Ghana falling 2-0 to Mexico and the USA experiencing a 3-1 defeat to Germany.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Hughton stated, “I think the challenges are quite obvious. We are up against a very good team that has a lot of experience, a strong ranking, and the advantage of playing at home.”

“We’ve reviewed many games, including the recent one against Germany, and it was a game of two halves. The USA performed very well, especially in the first half, but they were up against a strong and experienced German team. So, we understand that the challenges will be significant, and that’s precisely why we’re here. We had a tough game on Saturday. In the first half, we competed well, but we conceded two poor goals, which you can’t afford to do against that level of quality. So, yes, the challenges will be substantial, but that’s why we’ve come prepared.”

Ghana aim to avoid back-to-back defeats in the October international window and break their losing streak against the USA, having suffered losses in their last two encounters in 2014 and 2017. Prior to that, Ghana had won against the USA twice in a row, with both victories occurring during the World Cup in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

The match is set to take place on Tuesday night at Geodis Park, and Ghanaians can watch the game on Wednesday at 12:30 am.
