GPL: Gama penalty gives Kotoko victory as Olympics end winless run

Fabio Gama

Brazilian Fabio Gama scored the decisive goal as Asante Kotoko beat Karela United 2-1 to go top of the Ghana Premier League table.

Diawise Taylor cancelled out Emmanuel Gyamfi’s opener for Kotoko, but Gama secured three points with a penalty in the second half.

However, Hearts of Oak can reclaim top spot as they face Legon Cities on Thursday evening.

Also on Wednesday, Great Olympics ended their three-game winless run with a 1-0 win in Accra against Bechem. Maxwell Abbey Quaye scored the winning goal in the second half.

Dreams FC came from behind to beat Eleven Wonders 2-1 in Dawu.

WAFA’s impressive first half performance saw them score three goals and they held onto to claim a 3-2 win against Aduana Stars.

Berekum Chelsea also won at home at the expense of Elmina Sharks, however, the match between Medeama and King Faisal did not take place due to heavy rain.

The match has been rescheduled for Thursday morning.
