Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has refuted the rumours circulating about the Kurt Okraku-led administration’s alleged opposition to the advancement of Asante Kotoko.

Following a string of lackluster outcomes, which they claimed were manipulated by referees influenced to jeopardize the club’s season, ardent supporters and several top officials accused the GFA of opposing Kotoko.

Harrison Addo, on the other hand, defended the FA’s refusal by alluding to the Porcupines’ victory in the Ghana Premier League last season.

He firmly stated that there is absolutely no truth to these speculations, aiming to dispel any misconceptions or doubts surrounding the GFA’s stance on the club.

The General Secretary emphasized that the current administration under Kurt Okraku has no intentions of hindering the progress or development of Asante Kotoko, assuring that the GFA remains committed to promoting and supporting the growth of all football clubs within Ghana.

“Who are the defending champions?  If the FA didn’t like them would they have won?” he said on Peace FM.

“If that is true then Kotoko will never win the league but Kotoko were the champions and are still the defending champions until we declare a winner.

“Per the table, Kotoko are the defending champions and the defending champions I see the way they took the cup. They shouldn’t denigrate it when somebody else is leading. When you do that you are not showing good sportsmanship,”

“If you win it is a genuine league but the day you don’t win you call it ingenuine. When you do that you are saying that before you start the league you have to be on top but if somebody else does then somebody is against Kotoko,”

Kotoko are presently sixth in the table with 44 points after 30 games, eight points behind the leaders Aduana Stars.
