Vision FC coach sounds warning to Kotoko ahead of GPL clash

Vision FC head coach, Nana Kweku Agyemang has fired a shot across the bow of Kotoko, warning them not to take his team lightly ahead of their highly anticipated matchday 17 clash in the Ghana Premier League.

The newly promoted side, currently sitting in 11th place with 19 points from 16 games, is gearing up for a David-vs-Goliath battle against the more established Asante Kotoko.

In a pre-match  interview, Nana Agyemang expressed confidence about his team’s chances, believing they have the technical and tactical prowess to go toe-to-toe with the Porcupine Warriors.

“In terms of technique and tactics, I think Vision can be at par with Kotoko. We have very good technical players who understand tactics and instructions. I don’t think Kotoko can underrate us. If they do, they do at their own peril.”

The Vision FC coach highlighted his team’s flexibility and adaptability, citing their ability to execute various tactics and formations. “We’re a versatile team that can switch between different tactics and formations seamlessly,” he noted. “Our players understand the nuances of both attacking and defending transitions, which makes them a formidable force on the pitch.”

This season, Vision FC has experienced a rollercoaster of results against the Ghana Premier League’s top teams. While they secured an impressive 3-2 victory over 2023 GPL champions Medeama Sporting Club, their performances against other past winners have been underwhelming. Notably, they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Hearts of Oak and a 2-1 loss on the road to current title holders FC Samartex.

Kotoko on the flip side has maintained an unbeaten record against newly promoted teams this season, albeit without securing a win. The Porcupine Warriors have been held to two draws, first against Holy Stars and then against Young Apostles, leaving them still searching for their first victory against a newly promoted side this term.

The match promises to be a thrilling encounter, with Vision FC seeking to pull off a major upset against a more experienced Kotoko side who would also be seeking their first victory against the league newcomers this term.

The game is slated to kick off at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
