Samartex FC’s dream season continues as they maintain their grip on the top spot in the Ghana Premier League.

Despite their impressive performance, the team’s management has stated that their main objective for the season remains to avoid relegation.

While it may seem like a humble goal, it speaks volumes about the team’s progress and growth.

In what is arguably their best start to a season in the top flight, Samartex have amassed 32 points, putting them comfortably ahead of the pack.

Also, Aduana FC forward Isaac Mintah shares the top spot in the goal king charts alongside Augustine Okrah.

However, the league has not been without its challenges. The struggles of RTU, who have suffered 10 losses and conceded 28 goals, have left them rooted to the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, the departure of several coaches, including Annor Walker, Martinus Koopman, Fatau Salifu, Michael Osei, and Frimpong Manso, highlights the pressure and intensity of the league.

Off the pitch, the GPL has faced a major setback with the withdrawal of title sponsors BetPawa, probably due to concerns over violence in the league.

Nsoatreman coach Maxwell Konadu was beaten by fans of Bofoakwa Tano at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Real Tamale United players were also attacked and had to be whisked away by security as Asante Kotoko SC fans destroyed seats at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese.

Moreover, the poor state of playing surfaces has resulted in frequent injuries to players, affecting the overall quality of play. Additionally, low attendance rates at matches have rendered local clubs financially strained.

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, there are several exciting fixtures on the horizon. Kotoko will take on Hearts of Oak in a highly anticipated clash, while Great Olympics will face off against Hearts of Oak in the Accra Derby.

With plenty still to play for, the remainder of the season promises to be filled with excitement and drama.
