Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that his tactics did not go to plan after following his team’s 2-1 defeat in the English FA Cup final to Manchester United at Wembley.
Guardiola’s side looked the favourites to win the title after beating their rivals in the final last year and winning the Premier League a week ago.
However, City found themselves stunned on the day by the Red Devils, and Guardiola believes his tactical setup let his team down for many aspects of the game.
“My gameplan in the first half was not good. The second half was much better. We were more intense. Credit to them for that second goal and the way they played and the game plan was not good. Overall disappointed today”, he said.
Man United stun rivals City in FA Cup final
Man City now have only the Premier League title to show for this season, but can keep their heads high? Knowing they competed for every single title this season.
Guardiola still has a year left on his contract at the Blue side of Manchester, and his side will be aiming to bounce back next season for more silverware.
