Our wastefulness cost us against Raja Club – Samartex coach

FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu has expressed his disappointment with his side’s inability to capitalise on their chances in the 2-2 draw against Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.

The Ghana Premier League champions hosted Raja Casablanca at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, hoping for a strong start. Despite taking the lead, Samartex couldn’t hold on, allowing the visitors to equalise and force a draw.

Reflecting on the match, Amadu admitted his team’s shortcomings in front of goal.

“I’m not a happy person, but I think we didn’t disgrace ourselves. The equaliser in the second half was a gift to them because we didn’t defend well in that situation,” he said. “We were wasteful in front of goal, and that cost us.”

Looking ahead to the return fixture in Morocco next weekend, Coach Amadu remains optimistic and is focused on turning the tables.

“We are aware that even minor mistakes can be punished at this level. Now we are going to fight because I have seen how they play,” he stated. “I will strategise for the away game. We will aim to be resilient and fight them there.”

With the stage set for a decisive encounter, FC Samartex will need to dig deep to secure their place in the next round of the competition.
