Otto Addo should stay – Sannie Daara insists

Former Ghana FA Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has called for the retention of under-fire Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

Amidst calls by disgruntled fans to get Otto Addo out of the job after an underwhelming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier that saw Ghana place bottom of Group F, Sannie Daara has stuck his neck out for the 49-year-old manager.

However, in an interesting turn of events, Otto Addo’s unpopular retention theme is gaining momentum, with former Black Stars players Ibrahim Tanko and Laryea Kingston showing their solidarity with the coach, backing him firmly.

The former GFA Communications Director, Saanie Daara, becomes the latest to support Otto Addo.

“Otto should stay. When we needed him in the World Cup qualifiers, he came in strongly for Ghana. Otto has proven on multiple occasions that he can do the job. These are some of the shortcomings he will have to deal with. There are things he needs to learn about the African terrain. Sometimes, you don’t need to go the hard way,” he told 3Sports.

Ghana failed to make the AFCON for the first time in 20 years and will turn its attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, expected to take place in March 2025.
