Opoku Nti tips Kotoko to win League under Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko legend Samuel Opoku Nti believes that with Karim Zito now in charge, the Porcupines can still clinch the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite Gold Stars currently leading the race.

Kotoko revived their title hopes with a crucial win over Aduana Stars on Sunday, April 27, while title rivals Gold Stars and Nations FC both suffered defeats on Matchday 29.

Following Zito’s appointment, Kotoko’s management tasked him with the challenge of delivering both the league title and the FA Cup  a goal many initially viewed as far-fetched. However, Opoku Nti is confident that Zito’s experience and tactical maturity could turn the club’s season around.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Opoku Nti said:
“Zito has evolved into a very experienced coach. He fights for results and reads games very well. With the right support, I believe he can deliver success for Kotoko.”

Reflecting on Kotoko’s performance against Aduana Stars, Opoku Nti praised Zito’s impact and expressed optimism for the rest of the campaign.

“Today’s performance shows he is a real game-changer. I hope it’s not just a one-off. My prayer is that Kotoko can go all the way and win the league under Zito,” he added.

Opoku Nti further stated that Kotoko’s victory over Aduana felt like a divine reminder not to give up hope in the title race.

“It’s as if God is signaling to Kotoko that all is not lost. Seeing the results, the way Kotoko played today, and the fact that teams ahead of them are dropping points  I truly believe Kotoko can win the league.”

Kotoko currently trail Gold Stars by three points and will need to maximize their results in the remaining matches, while hoping the leaders slip up.

Next up, Kotoko will face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in a crucial Matchday 30 clash in Accra.
