Nsoatreman FC have released a statement indicating their decision to withdraw from the Ghana Premier League.
In a press release, the club cited recent incidents during their matches against Asante Kotoko and Samartex as the primary reasons for their decision.
The club emphasized that the safety of their players and officials cannot be guaranteed, leaving them with no option but to step away from the league.
The GFA is yet to respond to Nsoatreman’s request. If approved, the league will continue with 17 teams instead of 18 for the remaining 14 matches.
This development could significantly impact the relegation battle, where Karela United, Legon Cities, and Accra Lions currently occupy the bottom three spots.
The decision follows a violent incident during Nsoatreman’s Matchday 19 clash against Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronmansah Park. The match saw the tragic loss of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed by unknown assailants.
