Ghana star Mohammed Kudus etched his name into West Ham United’s history books by becoming the club’s highest-scoring Ghanaian player.

Despite his remarkable achievement, West Ham faced a heart-wrenching defeat against Newcastle United in a seven-goal thriller.

Kudus, who joined the Hammers just last summer, has swiftly become a pivotal figure for the team. His impact was once again felt as he found the back of the net on the brink of half-time with a sublime finish, propelling West Ham into the lead amidst a fiercely contested battle against the Magpies.

However, Newcastle mounted a stunning comeback, clinching a 4-3 victory despite Kudus’ heroic efforts.

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Kudus’ goal marked a significant milestone as he surpassed compatriot Andre Ayew to claim the title of West Ham’s highest-scoring Ghanaian player.

Remarkably, with 13 goals, Kudus achieved this feat in just 35 games, compared to Ayew’s 12 goals in 50 appearances. Additionally, Kudus leads all Ghanaians in the Premier League with the highest number of goal contributions, totaling 11 (seven goals and four assists).

Kudus’ scoring prowess extends across various competitions, including the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup, where he has showcased his talent with a total of 13 goals in all competitions.

Amidst the jubilation of his record-breaking goal, Kudus encountered a minor setback in his celebration. A ball boy’s refusal to provide him with a seat, denying his signature ‘take a seat’ celebration, led Kudus to revert to his previous celebratory gesture of sitting on the advertising board.

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Kudus’ remarkable achievements and unwavering determination continue to shine brightly, solidifying his status as a rising star in the Premier League and a pivotal asset for West Ham United.
