Mikel Arteta expresses desire to keep Partey for a long-term

Thomas Partey has been a vital player for Arsenal this season, and manager Mikel Arteta wants him to stay with the Gunners beyond this season.

Partey’s five-year deal with Arsenal, signed after his move from Atletico Madrid, expires in June.

Despite Partey’s injury-plagued past seasons, he’s had a standout campaign this year, making 51 appearances across all competitions – a personal best since joining the club.

Arteta expressed his desire to keep Partey at Arsenal, praising his exceptional performance and availability this season.

“Consistency-wise, it’s been his best season. The way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah, I want him to stay,” Arteta said in a pre-game press conference ahead of Arsenal’s final game of the season against Southampton.

Partey, 31, has been instrumental in Arsenal’s push for glory in the Premier League and first UEFA Champions League semi finals appearance since 2009.

His commanding performances in midfield have earned him praise from Arteta, who values his leadership and experience.

With Partey’s contract expiring, negotiations for a new deal are underway, with Arsenal reportedly prepared to offer a one-year extension with an option for a further year.

The Ghanaian midfielder’s future at Arsenal looks promising, despite interest from Saudi Pro League clubs and potential return to Atletico Madrid.

Partey seems happy to stay at Arsenal, provided a suitable compromise on salary and duration is reached.

With his experience and leadership, Partey would be a significant loss for Arsenal if he were to leave.

His best season yet, with four goals and three assists in 51 games, has undoubtedly caught Arteta’s attention, and it seems likely that Partey will remain a key figure in Arteta’s plans .
