Manchester City continued their defence of the Champions League title with a dominant performance away to FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Despite a brief scare when Ederson’s mistake allowed the hosts to score, City cruised to a 3-1 victory.

Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring for City early on, and Bernardo Silva doubled the lead just before halftime with a clever flick.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden had opportunities to extend the visitors’ advantage in the second half, but it wasn’t until Foden’s late strike that City sealed the win.

Pep Guardiola’s side will now host Copenhagen in the second leg on Wednesday, March 6th, with a healthy two-goal cushion.

Kevin de Bruyne was named man of the match after being involved in all three City goals on the night. The impressive midfielder has now been involved in eight goals (two goals and six assists) since returning from injury on 7 January.
