Manchester City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw at Etihad Stadium in a crucial Premier League showdown, handing Liverpool the advantage in the title race.

Liverpool now sit at the top of the table, leading by two points over Arsenal and three ahead of Manchester City.

Their ascendancy was further solidified by their comeback victory against Brighton at Anfield, with their closest rivals, City and Arsenal, failing to secure a win against each other.

Despite high expectations for an exciting match, the Cityzens and the Gunners struggled to break the deadlock in what turned out to be a disappointing affair.

Arsenal’s defensive tactics effectively neutralised City’s attacking threats, while the Gunners themselves had limited chances to capitalise on.

Nathan Ake came closest to scoring for City with an early header, saved by Arsenal keeper David Raya, before being forced off due to injury.

Former City striker Gabriel Jesus also posed a threat for Arsenal, narrowly missing a chance to connect with Bukayo Saka’s cross in the second half.

While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may find some satisfaction in securing a point against City, the true winners of the match were Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, who now find themselves leading the Premier League standings with the title race heating up.
