Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will join a Liverpool Legends management team for a charity game against Ajax Legends at Anfield in March.

Eriksson, who revealed in January that he has been diagnosed with cancer and has “best case a year” to live, expressed his enthusiasm for managing Liverpool, saying he has always been a fan of the club.

Liverpool confirmed that Eriksson will join a dugout of LFC greats, including Ian Rush, John Barnes, and John Aldridge, for the game on March 23rd.

The club stated that all proceeds from the event will go towards the LFC Foundation, a charity that supports various community programs.

Following Eriksson’s announcement about his health, Liverpool supporters called on the club to allow him to manage a Liverpool Legends team.

Manager Jurgen Klopp welcomed the idea, stating that Eriksson is “very welcome to come here” and that he could “sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day” if he wanted.

However, Klopp noted that being on the sideline might be more challenging due to Eriksson’s health condition.

Despite this, Klopp emphasised that the club would still like to host Eriksson and give him a chance to experience the inner workings of Liverpool FC.

He said, “To have him here and show him everything and how this wonderful club developed over the years, I think that’s definitely something we will tell him.”

Sven-Goran Eriksson is a renowned Swedish football manager who led England to the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups as well as Euro 2004.
