Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League suffered a significant blow as Liverpool convincingly defeated them at Anfield.

Liverpool, bouncing back from their recent slump, displayed their dominance as Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with a header from Cody Gakpo’s cross in the 16th minute.

Andy Robertson doubled the lead right before half-time, capitalising on a rebound from Salah’s shot.

Tottenham’s frustrations boiled over as teammates Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal had to be separated by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario at half-time.

Despite a late comeback attempt with goals from Richarlison and Heung-Min Son, it was too little too late for Spurs.

The 4-2 defeat marks Tottenham’s fourth successive loss in the league, further diminishing their chances of securing Champions League qualification. They remain seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

While Liverpool’s slim hopes of winning the league persist, the victory provided a much-needed boost after failing to win in their last two outings.

The result underscores Tottenham’s dramatic decline in form and highlights the challenges they face in their quest for European football next season.

With four consecutive defeats, the Lilly Whites have more difficult assignments in their remaining fixtures.

While they host Burnley and title-chasing Manchester City at home, they will wrap up their season with a trip to already-relegated Sheffield United.
